Dear New Creation UMC Family and Friends,

It is with very sad hearts that we must inform you that New Creation United Methodist Church  held its last worship service on June 27 and will now close. 

The reasons for our closing are strictly financial. We held on as long as we possibly could but in today’s financial climate our church family has been unable to support and keep our great church going. When we founded our church we decided on the motto “Come as you are, you’ll be loved”! We sincerely hope that this motto has shown through in our 18 years as a United Methodist Church.

Salem United Methodist Church has purchased our building and 8.5 acres of land. Salem UMC will be very busy in the coming two months making changes to this building and moving. They hope to open their doors in September but will have much to do in order to meet their projected opening. Meanwhile, watch their web site http://salemcongregation.blogspot.com/ for ongoing news as to the opening. In fact, check out their site now and bookmark it!

As most of you know, Salem UMC was completely destroyed in the horrific floods of 2008. Though we members of New Creation UMC are heartbroken at the closing of our church, we know that God does indeed work in mysterious ways and perhaps this is what HE had planned all along. We know there is a great need for a United Methodist church in this portion of Cedar Rapids and Salem's missions have been similar to New Creation's.

Though you will not find us here as New Creation, you will find a warm and loving church community at Salem. There will be a lot of exciting changes as they mold this site into the church they envision. Please plan on visiting Salem and checking them out once they open. After all is said and done, perhaps Salem UMC will indeed be a "new creation" and surpass everyone's expectations!

Meanwhile we hope to see your friendly faces again, perhaps in a store, a clothing shop or at church as we New Creation United Methodist Church members disperse to further spread God’s message of love. As always, our goal is to "Go Make Disciples"! We pray God’s protection and love for you and your families.
